Nobody sings the two traditional blues’ devils, melancholy and sadness, quite like Jimmy Guiboche. His tunes are raw and real, an emotional expression straight from the gut.

This coming Tuesday, the blues guitarist is a special guest at Ammar’s Moosehead Open Jam at LB’s Pub. Guiboche, known as Edmonton’s blues ambassador, is a favoured fill for big blues artists coming through town.

“One of my favourites on stage, he sets the groove and song tempo with body motion and he has great feel,” says Mark Ammar, a veteran host of six years of open stages.

Joining him is David “Crawdad” Canterra, a harmonica player who displayed his chops several years ago at Bud’s Lounge and was part of Peter North’s roots extravaganza Come On In My Kitchen.

“This will be a night of blues you do not want to miss.”

The jam starts at 9 p.m. LB’s is at 23 Akins Drive. No cover.
