Answer this question city council: Why are St Albert residents paying three times the tax compared to Spruce Grove?
I have been to Spruce Grove and do not see a difference in what both have to offer, except less tax burden on the people who live there. St. Albert has a tax surplus and the only councillor who thinks it is a good idea to give it back to the people is Sheila Hughes. The rest of council wants to give money to the chamber of commerce so they can get new offices and underground, heated parking.
Morinville did an independent audit on the town's expenditures at the behest of the people who live there. They wanted to see where the tax money was going and the council obliged.
I am challenging the people of St. Albert and City Council to find the age old question in St Albert: Why do we pay such high taxes? Answer this question and the people will stop complaining about it. What are you afraid of? It is a fair question.
