Who gets your vote

I find it rather interesting that the comments "Do nothing go nowhere councillor" come from the mayor.

I find it rather interesting that the comments "Do nothing go nowhere councillor" come from the mayor. Is it not the mayor’s duty to support each and every representative the people have chosen to elect? Is there not a code of ethics that all elected officials adhere to? Does she not represent the very same people that may have voted for him? Does the mayor think so little of the people of St. Albert that he feels he has free rein to demean and insult whomever he wishes? I know I didn't vote for this kind of person to lead this city.

Councillor Sheena Hughes brought up improprieties in the billing practices the mayor was utilizing that were, in fact, proven true. In doing so, she brought attention to an administrative flaw that was overlooked for how long? I don't think that was wrong of her. In fact, it was her civil duty to do so. Some councillors feel that was underhanded. Why? Do you think it’s good practice to keep secrets from the people they are representing?

Something is wrong within the council in my opinion, transparency is non-existent. I feel we need more on council who are astute, open eyed and not afraid to bring what's wrong within the system to light and rectify the issue.

I, for one, am seeing who has my concerns at hand and not just playing follow the leader throughout their political career.

Who gets your next vote? We all need to think about this now and not at election time.

Bryce York, St. Albert
