I was pleased to see the new white crosswalk paint at the intersection of Boudreau and Bellerose during my morning walk. It was good to see that St. Albert traffic engineers have reverted to the traditional white on road background which drivers like me with 50+ years of driving experience have come to rely on.

The recent change in road painting to include a bright yellow stripe on crosswalks was, for me, a distraction, as well as a potential safety hazard. As the St. Albert driving population ages we mature drivers rely on certain standard signals to warn us of these potential hazards; seeing the white crosswalk was one of these.

I am pleased that normalcy has returned. Please, traffic engineers; resist the temptation to experiment with public safety by colouring our roads unnecessarily.
