Where is the decency in this city?

Have we lost track of all decency in this community? When does the last election end and this city start to have leaders who direct it rather than throw out insults. After reading this last edition (Oct. 18) of the Gazette, I am perplexed.

I have to agree with Lynda Moffat from the chamber. This community is getting to be an embarrassment. We learn that Mr. MacKay Sr. is a former lawyer. Makes sense that his son could ask him questions on legal matters.

Mr. MacKay Sr. rents a home from Mr. Hennigar. Ask yourself why. I made a phone call and found out because I know Gord Hennigar. Mr. MacKay Sr. rents a home because he sold his to take care of his wife who is in a nursing facility. Mr. Hennigar, who happens to have used Mr. MacKay Sr. as a lawyer years ago and knows him, had the heart to rent space to Mr. MacKay Sr. and give him some place to hang his hat. There is a computer connection in the home that Mr. Hennigar owns or whatever that is in a company name and is billed to the landlord's address. Who cares?

Here are the facts that people don't want to recognize. Mr. Hennigar rented a home to someone who needed a place to live because Mr. MacKay Sr. is doing his best to take care of his wife. And we are judging someone on their kindness to another? Thank you, Mr. Hennigar, for renting a space to someone who is doing their best to look after his wife. And thank you, Mr. MacKay Sr., for raising a son whom this community can count on to look after us. And God bless you, Mr. MacKay Sr., for taking care of your wife the best you can and setting an example for your children. We could all learn a lesson.
