We should adopt 'zipper merging'

Re: Letters about traffic and merging from Brent Heit, Jacquie Glenn and Tony Gull. Today I drove into Edmonton on Groat Road. As I was turning onto River Valley Road, there was construction and so many cars were stopped. We waited almost 10 minutes and then the traffic started moving. There were two lines. As we started moving, the cars were taking turns from each lane to let each other in. Wow! Is this ever great.

Now I remember reading a letter in the St. Albert Gazette from Brent Heit. This is what he was talking about: “zipper merging.”

What a great idea! Why don't we adopt this method in St. Albert?
