I read with amusement the “Vicious attacks” comment in the Gazette’s Your Views published Wednesday, July 1. Last time I checked this country still has freedom of speech and elected officials in reality are supposed to work for the people who elected them, not the other way around. When the mayor or a council member speaks in public without regard or concern about what they are saying, they then have to own up to any feedback they receive whether good or bad. If they are not capable of doing that then they may not be suited for the office they hold.
One person’s opinion of "superior management" and another person’s can be very different. When elected officials are trusted with the public "tax purse" the expectation is that the funds will be spent wisely, for the consideration and usefulness of all the residents and not wasted on projects that become white elephants that the taxpayer has added as an extra burden to their tax bill.
I do not see superior management, common sense, wise spending or the interests of all residents being served under current council. With the recent byelection I do have hope that things will soon change as there may now be a third person on board with common sense.
Each person's reality is different, if certain individuals feel that the people who are being paid by us the "taxpayer" are not acting in our best interest and we are not getting our dollar's worth let alone a nickel’s worth we do have the right to say so.
