Water policy not the answer

It does not happen too often, but I totally agree with the Gazette editorial (“Time to throw water on policy,” Wednesday, July 16). There are a couple of reasons.

1. All the water in the world has been there for millions if not billions of years. Perhaps a couple of litres were lost in the space program but that is it.

2. Mayor Crouse could be drinking the same water molecule that was once ingested by a Neanderthal.

3. Where does he think “used” water goes? It ends up in the same environment from whence it came.

4. As the editorial so aptly notices, is he going to be part of the “water” police?

Are there alternatives? Of course there are. Increase water consumption rates. Make sure water infrastructure is more than adequate for St. Albertans. Bringing in a new feeder pipe really would be in the best interest for all, except of course that is not a politically correct solution to a non-problem.
