Why do Albertans hate obeying the law? "But," you say, "I don't hate obeying the law!"
So why did you vote for a party that does hate obeying the law? Stephen Harper has insinuated that the chief justice of Canada did something wrong by telling his justice minister that he should be careful that anyone they picked to sit on the Supreme Court should be eligible according to the law. No names, no cases, existed then.
Two months later, Stephen Harper appointed a man who, quite clearly, was not qualified to sit on the Supreme Court. When that appointment was challenged in court, the Supreme Court said that the law was clear: Marc Nadon was not eligible.
Now Stephen Harper is attacking Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin for telling him that he should read the rule book (and maybe, just maybe, listen to the government lawyers, who, I am sure, knew the rules) before making his appointment.
And you folks voted for this!
