Vicious attacks need to stop

Re: Mayor and council-bashing.

It appears the latest sport in St. Albert is letter-writing, directing vitriol and innuendoes toward the current mayor and council members. There seems to be a concerted effort by a group of people to malign these people in a vicious, irrational and almost slanderous manner. I cannot image how discouraging this is for the people this is directed toward.

Our city is run with superior management, and the results can be seen by every citizen as they walk, cycle or drive through the vast green spaces, quiet tree-lined streets, enjoy the exceptional indoor and outdoor recreational facilities we are so fortunate to “own” as St. Albert residents. We are a beautiful city, a safe city, and a growing city. The decisions our representatives make, have to take all this into consideration. They have done a superb job! Of course, there is more to be done – there always will be and none of it will ever be perfect, but aren’t we fortunate St. Albert!

I recently retired from a 30-year career in real estate. I viewed, researched and sold homes in most all of the communities and rural properties in the Capital Region and without hesitation can say St. Albert is the “best” place to be.

Fielding complaints, personal interests and agendas is all part of taking on the responsibility of our mayor and council, but the uninformed, rude, vicious attacks really need to stop. We need people like our current council and mayor who really do have our best interests at heart to want to represent our city, but constant harassment and rude vicious attacks will only achieve the opposite.
