To my fellow Erin Ridge residents,
How many of you live near one of the empty lots owned by Martin Homes? I know that on our cul-de-sac we have been waiting for two lots to be completed since we moved in June, 2007. During that time we have waited patiently as Martin slowly built their "show" home, which is now occupied. After repeated efforts by neighbours, city council and many others to convince Martin to finish the remaining lots, or sell them to someone who will, I think that enough is enough. I know that the city is doing everything within their power to have them do some something, but perhaps a little publicity will be even more effective.
We are now in a situation where Martin is storing building materials, scrap, piles of dirt and heavy equipment on two spare lots on Erin Ridge Dr. This poses a danger to the small children who play in the cul-de-sac, and could very easily harm themselves.
The apparent disregard for safety during construction projects is a major concern. One neighbour had their fence collapsed during the excavation of a basement and now they are moving heavy equipment back and forth from the worksite, and crossing public roads and sidewalks with no signage or consideration for public safety.
The time has come for Martin Homes to either hire proper contractors and finish these homes or sell the lots to someone who can.
