In response to Josh Maeda’s “St. Albertans should have a say when it comes to public art projects,” (St. Albert Gazette, Your Views, Sept. 26).
Mr. Maeda, your letter to the editor states the calling of the pathetic wheat art “Ugly Ducklings” may be offensive to some.
What is offensive is having this so-called art work in the city of St Albert at all. I, too, have not found one person that I have talked to, that knew about this atrocity. Nor have I found anyone who has had a positive thing to say about it. What I also find offensive is the fact that the artists for this project are from Quebec (stated in the Sept. 22 Gazette), and not from anywhere in Alberta, let alone St. Albert.
City council has once again wasted more of our tax dollars on useless so-called art. Why couldn’t they just put plants or trees in the traffic circle? Not only would they be more pleasing to the eye, but they would be more beneficial environmentally.
