What in the world is going on with our politicians? Do any of them have the idea of “representative”? Are they all in “rule” mode? Are they under the impression that spending tax money to further their own aims is fit and proper?
Our former premier evidently spent some money foolishly. It appears that money collected for the well-being of all Albertans was spent on the ease and comfort of that premier's family. Like Ralph and his fishing camp and the gazebo and fake lake in Ontario, the fishing trip by military jet and so many other examples of arrogance and sense of entitlement among politicians of late (and perhaps of all time?) these personal expense expenditures are becoming standard practice.
The properly appointed department has explored the issue and reported the depth and breadth of the misuse of tax monies in the ex-premier's instance. From there, one would assume that various departments, including the police if necessary, would pick up on their responsibilities and recover the money, punish the perpetrator and close the barn door to prevent further leakage.
I see, however, that some people of opposing political parties are demanding that Mr. Prentice spend a few million dollars investigating and castigating. Mr. Prentice is not even a member of the Alberta legislature!
This is exactly what shines out as typical current political stupidity (or cupidity) In order to paint another party black, spend millions to expose the misspent thousands.
What a shining example of the sense of entitlement – all Alberta should pay for one sector to avail themselves of some mud to throw.
No wonder taxes are something like 49 per cent to 51 per cent of our incomes!
