My family recently moved to a different part of St. Albert and we are in a crescent near an elementary school. What I find alarming is the number of vehicles equipped with parents who are picking up their children. The alarming part is the number of parents who cannot shut off their vehicles when waiting for up to an hour.
It is fair conditions out, your window is open, you’re on your phone playing a game and your engine is running, for what purpose? Why would you waste resources like this? Do you think an idling engine doesn’t use fuel? You’re neither cooling nor heating your interior nor do you need to.
This is common everywhere unfortunately, from the shopping centre to the front of your house. Please turn off your engines when you are not driving. Unless it is minus-20 or plus-30 you do not require an engine running when you can open or close windows.
