I've been reading with amusement all the recent letters critical of the RCMP regarding the illegal snow removal issue on Bellerose Drive.
Of all those people who are being critical, it would be interesting to know how many were actually at the scene to witness what transpired in order for them to be able to form such strong opinions. While the outcome was unfortunate, in my dealings with those in authority and with people in general for that matter, I have found that being respectful generally results in similar reciprocal treatment.
I would suggest the RCMP have more pressing matters at hand than to arrest a citizen knowing that it may cause some controversy. I would also suggest the RCMP do not generally arrest people without cause. Those that are quick to criticize from the comfort of their couches should perhaps "walk a mile" in the shoes of a police officer or at the very least wait until all the facts are made public before vocalizing an opinion.
I'm certain that if you had crashed into the back of the truck that was dangerously blocking busy and icy Bellerose Drive that day, your opinion would be much different. Ironically enough, those same people quick to criticize the RCMP are likely the first to call for assistance when their own legal rights have been compromised.
