I love living in St. Albert, my second favourite city in Canada (Vancouver being my first favourite).
St. Albert has a lot to offer a family if you’re willing to put up with high taxes and a nice downtown which could use less decorating stores. But anyways this letter is about how the city seems to fail in one area, traffic flow!
These new red turning lights are safe and a good idea, but they create traffic jams! The city sinks lots of money in the lights, why not sync them better to actually have traffic flow? I thought the city installed better sensors to help traffic flow?
I still countless times find myself being stopped at a red light to let a green light go to an adjacent side with no traffic.
On St. Albert Trail you pretty much get stopped at every light during rush hour, if not then every second traffic light. Should be when one goes green, you hit them all green as you drive though town.
Also the angle parking is awesome downtown, but then again you’re stuck behind a traffic jam most of the day on Perron Street.
Lastly Ray Gibbon should have been doubled when they built it, it’s past capacity and a parking lot during rush hour. We should be leaders in traffic flow, not just quality of life.
