I have been watching the branch library saga and the efforts of those stalwart civic-minded people who have worked diligently to eliminate this extravagant waste of money.
I am sure many of the readers will agree with me that we must be apprehensive of those people who read books, and especially those who entice children into reading books. We are all well aware that there are enough cartoon shows on TV to keep children occupied when they become bored with their electronic devices that we do not need the elitist things like libraries and especially branch libraries.
Some misguided promoters of the branch library have gone so far as to suggest it would make library access easier for seniors.
They completely disregard the fact that there are plenty of afternoon dramas on TV to keep seniors occupied and in the evening they and children should be in bed anyway.
If we don’t win this fight what will be next – more spending on schools, hospitals and other such frivolities?
