Kudos to Coun. Sheena Hughes for wanting to re-open the increase to the yearly utility bills. People are upset and a $24 a month increase is not acceptable and neither is $14 a month. Out tax increase is not 3.3 per cent when you add on this new utility fee. The rest of council – give your heads a shake.
Time to tighten your spending belts, council and stop with the frivolous spending. I believe the majority of the general public would rather have affordable utility bills than your spending on the realignment of St. Anne Street. Taxpayers are currently held hostage for the mistake called Servus Place and partial payment for the coffee shop there.
Some, and I do say some, entertainment venues are needed and a display of some art awareness but not to the extent this city does.
Prepaying for future infrastructure (which as I have stated before some of us may be here for or may not, and the possibility that council will divert these funds elsewhere, as has happened in the past) is just not acceptable.
Time to listen to your taxpayers or, as I have been thinking for a long time now, you are not here for the good of the people you are here only for yourselves.
