The commentary with the headline, Where is St. Albert’s kindness posted in the St. Albert Gazette (page 19) on Saturday, April 12 by writer Dee-Ann Schwanke was not kind to the residents of St. Albert.

Commentary like this, by a masters student in international management, is not only undeserving, but unbalanced and does not reflect the general persona of the residents of St. Albert. This article left me sad, empty and disturbed, but then I read the article entitled Food bank giving more (page 33), which lifted my spirits.

Bravo to writer Susan Jones: this is the St. Albert that I know. The St. Albert Food Bank and Community Village is a beacon of hope for so many in our community and is one of the undiscovered jewels of St. Albert.

“The purpose of the Food Bank and Community Village is to assist disadvantaged members of our community to reach or return to a state of independence, personal safety and improved quality of life and empowerment through nutritional support and facilitating access to the appropriate community-based social agencies.” (Taken from the CRA Charities Directorate website)

I challenge writer Dee-Ann Schwanke to visit this organization and she will find St. Albert kindness.
