To the truly wonderful staff at the Sturgeon Community Hospital:
This past weekend, my wife; who is 21 weeks pregnant, became suddenly and quite violently ill.
I brought her in to the Emergency Room at 11:15 p.m. I had checked the estimated wait times, which were around the six-hour mark. I have visited the E.R. many times in my life. I am accustomed to waiting, and I don't really mind doing so; as I feel quite lucky to even have these services.
However, this particular evening, we were both very concerned, about both my wife and the baby. The speed at which we received help is the reason for this letter. Everyone involved worked at phenomenal speed.
My wife was receiving I.V. fluids after just eleven minutes. Baby was on the monitor at fifteen. We got orders from the doctor soon after, and stayed for roughly five hours, until she was stabilized. I was able to bring her home in the early morning.
I often hear people complaining about wait times, or under staffing, or just the health care system in general. While we all are all aware of some shortfalls, I really thought it necessary to let the people of this city know, that in a time of crisis, help is there. And there was not an unhappy staff member in sight. Every last one was nothing but kind and helpful.
This is a huge thanks to everyone at the Sturgeon Hospital. I was truly amazed.
