Re: SHAVA needs new home, Gazette, Oct. 21).
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who provide their service and smiles in the operation of the SHAVA (Sturgeon Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer Association) bookstore.
I look forward to my bi-weekly visits to the store to purchase and/or donate books and have always been impressed by the volunteers’ efforts to organize and maintain the books in such a systematic library fashion. This non-profit, volunteer-run bookstore is to be commended for all the monies it has raised for the Sturgeon Hospital for the past two decades.
I am saddened to hear that the bookstore has been given notice and will close on Nov. 28, yet I would also like to thank Amacon and the previous developers who allowed SHAVA to operate all this time, rent and utilities free.
I sincerely hope that a new home for SHAVA is on the horizon so that it will be able to continue its great service to the St. Albert community, but mostly to the Sturgeon Hospital.
