I am writing to express my appreciation to the citizens of our city that came to our very first official fundraiser for the Community Refugee Committee of St. Albert (CRCSA) held on Saturday, Sept. 10, in the parking lot of St. Albert United Church. We particularly thank the church for making their facilities available to us. The committee raised $1,024 all of which will go towards the sponsorship of refugees coming to our beautiful botanic city.
This refugee committee is committed to raising sufficient funds to enable us to sponsor a refugee family or single refugee for one year from their date of arrival. Our goal is to acculturate them to Canadian values and the Canadian way of life; to help them become resourceful, independent, contributing members of our society.
