Thank you St. Albert Gazette for the courage to stand up for Canada. You and the Sun News are the only media that care enough about Canadians and our country to challenge the so-called “environmental celebrities” who criticize our country and our oilsands developments.
I am appalled that some of our own citizens who receive tremendous financial benefits from the oilsands, and their special relationship within Canada, “bad mouth” our wonderful country. They should do something positive and constructive for society, not just complain and take as much as they can from hardworking Canadian families who are building our country and our economy.
Canada has one of the highest environmental and human rights standards in the world. Foreign celebrities should direct their efforts in cleaning up their own environmental mess at home before coming here to preach to us. These same celebrities with their many “toys, and excessive indulgence” create the largest carbon footprints of any citizen. I guess it’s not about the “environment” is it? It’s about money and paid lobbyists being the mouthpiece for the off-shore oil interests like Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, etc. who have the worst environmental and human rights records in the world. They will do everything possible to stop our oil developments to protect their own financial interests, and excessive lifestyles. Unfortunately, the United States’ Obama administration fully supports these interests over Canada. Sad, eh?
Isn’t it strange these same paid activists have not said one bad word about the millions of barrels of oil that we import into Canada via the St. Lawrence seaway.
Why is that?
Preacher Tutu should quit wasting precious energy and stay home. He has plenty of “filth” to clean up in his own backyard. Tutu should help his people gain economic independence and self-reliance and keep his preaching for his own people.
Canada’s dissenters have the right to protest and voice their opinion, that’s what Canada is about. They do not have the right to break the law – that is also what Canada is about. Canadians fought and died for these freedoms and we have the right to expect the law to be fully enforced, “no matter which group is involved.” Protesters who break the law must be prosecuted. That’s also what democracy and Canada is all about.
