Tainted winter walk

My, oh my. Why? We just got home from an almost lovely walk on a beautiful winter day. Sadly, a hiccup.

My, oh my. Why? We just got home from an almost lovely walk on a beautiful winter day. Sadly, a hiccup. Many, many people “forgot” to pick up after their dog again!

I know my personality profile is that I follow the rules and sometimes go a bit overboard with them but really, all I expect of others is to simply follow this rule, please pick up after your dog! We are not talking about a little dropping but (another one of my quirks, “detail”) massive piles on the side of the snowbanks and in the middle of the walking paths, trails and sidewalks.

Come on people, there are bags for use along the paths and there is nothing wrong with carrying your own, most of us do it. Now to cut you some slack, I understand that you are probably good and kind about taking your dog out for a walk as he or she may have been indoors for a spell of time while you were away. It would be best however, if you could please show some respect for walkers/runners and the lovely community you live in – one that prides itself on beautification. I must say there is nothing pretty about these doggy deposits! Imagine taking your little children out for a “dodgy” sleigh ride and have this pile of mess at their nose height or for them to drag their mitts through it as they reach for the snowbanks.

I have been meaning to write this letter for a long time but hesitated as I know that the people reading this are more than likely not responsible for the tainted walks we experience on a daily basis. So thank you, my fellow rule followers, for helping keep the paths taint free.
