I must say that I was somewhat disappointed in your March 9 edition concerning the visit from the Rodgers Hometown Hockey group. I saw lots of pictures of NHL alumni but no mention of the ongoing Rodgers Hometown Hockey cheer competition. This is a staple of this event. Canadian cities having an internal contest, choosing a winner that would then go on to compete with the other 22 cities from various parts of Canada in a national contest.
SA776 Avengers are now representing St. Albert in the national "Cheer Like Never Before" championships and have a one in 23 chance of winning the grand prize which includes: Transportation to Vancouver, lodging, meals, a day with the Canucks, watching a game against the Edmonton Oilers, and winning new equipment for the whole team!
We can't do this alone. We need the support of our city and surrounding areas to vote daily starting March 27, 2016 at 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2016. Five days of voting frenzy.
