Once again we have the Conservatives in power in Alberta where $30 million will be available for a war chest. What it really is is an “entitlement” that the UCP feel that they should be able to give to their foreign oil friends. The money will be used by foreign owners of our oil sands to fight our environmentalists who are concerned about our future.
We need to ship oil to other countries but we also have to diversify our economy. UCP like previous Conservatives want to give up our manufacturing to foreign countries because they want us to become a banana province. Everything that we used to manufacture is now made in foreign countries. Manufacturing countries are the economy powerhouses of the world. Just look at China, Germany, Sweden, USA, etc. Manufacturing provides the good paying jobs.
We should be working with the Federal government to regain our manufacturing. Americans understand this, why does UCP not? Again the Conservatives will mismanage our resources and blame everyone else. Perhaps they should go to Norway which had a socialist government and see what they did. Norway has billions of dollars in their heritage fund. Why do we not? Workers were laid off in droves with the drop in oil prices while the Conservatives were still in power. Let us get manufacturing back in Alberta and make Alberta strong and free for all Albertans, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
