Street sweeping wake up calls

It’s that time of year again: time to clean the salt, sand and dust off our filthy streets.

It’s that time of year again: time to clean the salt, sand and dust off our filthy streets. But does it really need to be done through the middle of the night while we’re trying to sleep?

Outside of our bedroom windows, like precision clockwork, we hear them at 12:47 am, at 2:47 am, and then again at 4:47 am. The sweeping itself wouldn’t be so bad, but the shovel blades scraping against the concrete combined with that warning “beep” sound of the trucks in reverse, are enough to drive one crazy.

I’m thankful for cleaner streets, but there must be a better way (or time of day).
