One week ago Greg Parks of the St. Albert Steel stated he cannot understand why the people of St. Albert do not support the ‘exciting’ hockey he has brought here. The fact that the season ticket base has eroded by three quarters tells me that many besides my family beg to differ.
Fans want a team that may show well in the playoffs and what have you given us? Four years and no improvement in the standings, three years of one and out in the playoffs and it’s looking the same for this year. We see a team that, more often than not, is outcoached. Mr. Parks, if we switched places and you were watching me ineptly run a team four years straight, would you continue to support my product? Or want me running it? The previous team in St. Albert would routinely draw more than 500 people at this time of year in a horrible venue.
I believe the problem, Mr. Parks, is not the hockey fans of St. Albert.
