After so long waiting for the road work to finish on St. Anne Street it was a disappointment to know the results. The roads all go in the same direction as before except now you go in a circle. Wow, for $4.45 million the drivers in St. Albert did not get their tax-paying dollars worth.
Some of the features state the walkway features LED streetlamps, custom metal fences into which depictions of popular St. Albert sports and landmarks are cut, red-coloured sidewalk panels that have been embossed to look like wooden planks and a 40 km/h speed limit. There are also 30 new on-street parking spots on the shoulder, numerous trees and plants and fluorescent yellow crosswalks.
Was there no other much needed work contract that this money could have gone to? Seems to be a lot of tax money going to the downtown section, just to have a few more parking spaces, and possibly another speed trap.
