In answer to the "Where were crowds?" (St. Albert Gazette, Feb. 11) I would like to challenge the writer to refrain from disappointment solely based on the fact that people were not lining the procession route.
In a city of 60,000 people I would suggest that many of those folks were at work, and unlike your husband, were unable to leave work to attend. I would also draw your attention to an article in the same Feb. 11 issue of the Gazette which has the headline “RCMP fundraiser tops $65,000” to show how this community is indeed showing the importance of Const. David Wynn and Auxiliary Const. Derek Bond.
It is wonderful that you and your family had the opportunity to be personally present at the funeral. Please give credit to all St. Albertans as their response to this tragedy has been shown in other ways seen and unseen.
My condolences to the Wynn family and may you continue to have the support of family, friends and your adopted city.
Diane Piercey, St. Albert
