Easter is one of the most religious holidays in the Christian world. So why did I see our waste collection vehicles out there on Good Friday picking up our garbage and our recycling?
It was quite obvious that our neighbours weren’t sure about what day we were going to have our garbage picked up, so some neighbours had them out for a Thursday morning pickup. But the schedule did say Friday. So the containers were placed out at the curb just like the schedule stated.
I went to our schedule to see what was circled for a statutory holiday. They had Easter Monday circled showing that this was going to be the day that the holiday fell on and for that reason, collection day rearranged.
For those of you that are not quite sure of what day is the Christian holiday. It is Good Friday, the day that Christ was crucified and it always has been. Easter Monday was a holiday a very long time ago and it still is for schools and the government. Remember Good Friday is the only Friday as a holiday. Can we remember that? All of our other holidays are on Mondays.
I am appalled. What else is going to fall apart or go to the wayside or not be recognized whatsoever. We are a Christian community with multi religions that I totally respect but please let’s try to take the time to think.
It’s bad enough that we have shopping on Easter Sunday. I am not a person that is very religious but I do follow Christianity, but won’t anything matter one day?
