Seniors programming needs funding

First, I must thank K. Pavelich, for the invitation to the temporary site of the 50+ Club, when I have time I shall drop in. I do know that the club is active – on the occasions I have dropped into the regular club site it has always been busy and I have friends who attend programs.

What I now see is that the specialized programs for those who do not get out easily including the isolated seniors program and the Social Day program are underfunded, because the City of St. Albert withdrew its FCSS funding support. My concern would be now that a one-time donation of $3,000 will not be sufficient to provide stable continuous funding for such essential supportive activities. Perhaps when the club is in its renovated home, the City of St Albert can be persuaded by the 50+ Club, to renew its FCSS support. Maybe the City might donate from its branding program funds – to enable seniors to flourish and thrive, a “bloom where you’re planted” program.
