Sending five St. Albert city councillors and the mayor to Halifax for a Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference for a week seems like overkill by our esteemed uninformed city council (Gazette, June 9; "Councillors bring back tools for St. Albert's future").


The bill for this junket  will probably be around $30,000 with airfare, expenses, hotels and the like. Prudent spending by this city council is not in the cards. The audacity of this council to send all these people  when one or two could have gone and reported back would have been sufficient. But oh no, the whole troop went on this junket except for one cicty councillor.


Time to rein in the learning curve and emphasize fiscal restraint in the wake of economic times. My taxes went up to spend on this.
