Season's Greetings far from amateur theatre

Thanks to Anna Borowiecki's review of Season's Greetings, the Alan Ayckbourn play, and the St.

Thanks to Anna Borowiecki's review of Season's Greetings, the Alan Ayckbourn play, and the St. Albert Theatre Arts Guild of Entertainers who, thankfully accept STAGE as a working title, I was able to spend an enjoyable evening of good old amateur theatre.

With no fanfare, no pre-announcement and no printed program to tell you who is who, this group managed to put on a show old-style.

I was one of about a dozen audience members total. I can only say the rest of you missed an excellent performance of a play that demands such concise timing and English accents!

Good amateur theatre is something that has been missing from St. Albert for too many years. I have often wondered what happens to the graduates or even the not-so-graduates of the excellent theatre arts programs taught in our local high schools. Where do all the grads from the University of Alberta drama department go too? Hopefully some of them live in St. Albert. Hopefully they might show up at local venues.

When this happens I hope to have an aisle seat. Thanks STAGE — break a leg!
