Sometimes the smallest gesture can mean so much.
I sent my husband to the store to buy me something and he was stopping there on his way home from work. He wasn't able to find the item so he called me on his cell and while he was speaking to me, someone else started speaking to him. When he returned, I asked who it was and he said that someone had stopped to say thank you to him for his service to our country; he had gone to Walmart in his soldier's uniform.
My husband is quite a shy guy so he simply said thank you. However, not having a shy bone in my body, I wanted to say how much their small gesture meant to my family and me.
I am so proud of my husband and other military friends and their spouses, so it means a lot when someone takes the time out of their life to appreciate the service of these men and women. Nov. 11 is just around the corner. I ask that your readers take the time to remember the service of the thousands of men and women from previous wars, and of those who continue to serve this wonderful country.
