A big thank you to city employees in charge of making special events run smoothly. Last week, my family and I used the free park and ride service to attend the rodeo.
My children were very excited to take a bus ride because they are two and five years old. We caught the very first bus on Saturday morning. The driver was very enthusiastic, greeting us with a “Yeehaw!”
While we were waiting for more passengers to arrive, the driver noticed some garbage had spilled out of an overflowing garbage can. She got out and picked up garbage while waiting!
Only one other family showed up, and we headed to the rodeo. Our driver yelled out “I can see the rides!” when we got closer to the grounds, exciting the children even more.
Thank you to the bus driver for making the bus ride one of the highlights of my kids’ day, and for going above and beyond by helping to keep our city beautiful.
My only concern is that the park and ride service is not being used enough by St. Albertans. There were only two other families on the bus for the trip back. While on the bus ride, we noticed many people parking and walking from quite a distance.
Please use the free service or it may be lost to us. It was a great experience. The driver was great. We parked just metres from the bus stop and were dropped off right at the rodeo entrance.
