Road safety

So I'm coming home from a nice warm motorcycle trip last Thursday around 8 p.m. I'm going north on the Trail and decide to go left at McKenney, since the current construction at Giroux can tie things up a bit. I'm behind a large pickup (what else in Alberta?) waiting for the advance green. We are finally moving along and as we make the turn the pickup goes for the immediate left, which is its own short lane into the Earls parking lot. I'm passing him of course to continue up the hill when an SUV turning left into the Sobey's parking lot pulled right in front of me – some panic braking and manoeuvres kept me out of the passenger side of her vehicle. I was fumbling for my horn but my newer Honda has changed the location so that came up empty. This womon with well kept hair had no idea that this just happened as her gaze was fixed north into the parking lot.

Please lady, don't take chances like that. You knew the traffic was limited to those few people turning left. You could've waited until everyone was done their turn, but you chose to cut across two lanes of traffic when your vision was impaired by a large vehicle. I shall be calling the City's traffic division to have these two left turns shut, they are dangerous and access can be gained easily from Liberton. It is idiotic to have protected left turns, a lot of them completely unnecessary, and then have a dangerous setup like this.
