Remembrance Day should have been more prominent

I was quite disappointed to get our Wednesday Gazette to discover there was no reference to Remembrance Day services on the front page.

I was quite disappointed to get our Wednesday Gazette to discover there was no reference to Remembrance Day services on the front page. My husband and I had to read through until we reached page 28 and found Scott Hayes’ article “Tomorrow is the time to remember” to find out exactly when services in St. Albert would begin.

Why is the advertisement on the front page to welcome Santa at West Edmonton Mall more important? I understand that there was probably some kind of charge for having the ad placed on the front page, but to take place over Remembrance Day services sets the wrong example of what should be “truly important.” Just last week the daylight savings time was on the front page. I did not have to go looking for that information.

Our soldiers deserve more respect and to place commercial interests over Remembrance Day is just wrong in my opinion.
