‘Council must be willing to ask tough questions’ view by Kristin Toms in Saturday, May 2, St. Albert Gazette was and is of such importance and urgency that it should have been the Front Page Headline Story, rather than on page 21.
Several worthy news items were revealed of which most residents were apparently not previously aware of. Granted, they were included in the full 48-page report on the hiring of Gilles Prefontaine for which your paper provided an online link – but few, if they knew where to look, would take the time to find it, and even fewer still would pick up those points amongst the many crucial details contained in the all-important and sobering 48 pages.
I would remind you, this is by no means a new issue. It first raised its ugly head a year ago and was quickly and quietly shoved under the rug with a whole pile of other dirt. This is extremely important. We are foolish to think that ‘all will be well’ once the deal is covered up and hopefully forgotten.
