This past week has seen an immediate and overwhelming support for a family subject to racially motivated violence and hatred in the Grandin Woods Estates community. Katrina and Jordan Anderson have decided to leave their home which leaves that area poorer while shows their dedication to their greatest treasure, their children.
Children playing outside regularly (rollerblading, playing football and basketball) is what all children should be doing more often. Children are part of our village and we all should raise them and protect them. Instead of this, a dark cloud of hatred is spread over them and with the potential threat of physical harm mixed into the storm.
The individual behind this letter should be charged with uttering threats, and could and probably should face life-altering prison time.
The elitist attitude (we own our home, you rent) wilfully promotes hatred, community division and a medieval class mindset. The words in the letter shows a lack of understanding, education, compassion and basic human respect.
This First Nations family is OUR family, who live, love and share this land and Katrina and Jordan are an asset to this whole community.
