Quality of snow removal services embarrassing

Last week some colleagues and I were near the water cooler enjoying lunch. An employee who works part-time in St. Albert spoke up and asked about whether or not we had any sanding trucks? I was shocked and did not know how to reply.

Last week some colleagues and I were near the water cooler enjoying lunch.

An employee who works part-time in St. Albert spoke up and asked about whether or not we had any sanding trucks? I was shocked and did not know how to reply. He then went on to remark about how the intersections were not sanded very well at all. Compared to Spruce Grove it was horrible.

Another colleague joined in, stating that Sherwood Park services were awesome. I began to think of the last time I saw a truck on the way to work down Boudreau or on Campbell and I couldn't remember the last time.

Now I know there has been a lot of snow and I know our services are stretched but it was embarrassing. They went on to tease me about the extremely high taxes I pay and how I wasn't getting my moneys’ worth. When I moved to St. Albert I wanted to have a sense of pride where I lived. The Servus Credit Union Place debacle, the continued garbage decisions, the lack of recycling until recently, the removal of many trees without replacements, the horrible traffic light situation on the Trail, our ridiculous parking lot planners and a city council that does not have a vision for an excellent St. Albert makes it difficult to defend our city.

I personally emailed and called our councillors and mayor and I encourage all of you to do the same.

Matt Diederichs, St. Albert
