I am concerned that council has decided to allow private personal trainers to practice at Servus Place. As a frequent user, I have witnessed how difficult it can be for the trainers at Servus to find areas to train their own clients. It is only through communication with all trainers that they are able to arrange areas where they can all accommodate the client members. Allowing outside trainers will make this far more difficult.
I cannot understand why council would go against the recommendations of their own managers, allowing outside competition against their own employees! Trainers at Servus are certified to industry standards, must have training for all equipment they use, have rules and schedules for all areas.
Outside trainers cannot be monitored to this same level and will, inevitably, lead to conflict with members, employees, and quite likely cause increased work for staff in time to regulate and administer these non-members.
I strongly urge council to rethink this. Why compete with your own staff?
