Plenty to experience at Articulture this weekend

April 7 marked the beginning of ArtiCulture, a four-day festival of art, music, literature, film and heritage happening this weekend. Ours is a community built on a proud heritage and a blossoming cultural spirit.

April 7 marked the beginning of ArtiCulture, a four-day festival of art, music, literature, film and heritage happening this weekend. Ours is a community built on a proud heritage and a blossoming cultural spirit. I’m proud to say this festival is a shining example of both those merits.

As the ArtiCulture committee chair, I’ve had the privilege and honour working with an eclectic group of individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Seeing the talent from our community come together for this festival has been nothing short of inspiring. I’m humbled by the brilliance of the many artists, authors, filmmakers, artisans and musicians who are from or inspired by St. Albert. Some are at the beginning of their careers, some have recently discovered a new passion and some are well-respected names in the arts community. The Live, Work and Play art exhibit in the lobby of St. Albert Place is an outstanding example of the efforts and talent right in our own backyard. Thank you for sharing your gifts.

I’d like to extend a special thank you to Mayor Nolan Crouse and council for their continued support of the arts in our community. Thank you to the ArtiCulture committee, who has brought tremendous energy and ideas to this festival and has worked tirelessly to bring these four days to life. As well, city staff deserves thanks and recognition. Without their support and guidance, none of this would have been possible.

I encourage everyone to come and check out what’s going on downtown this weekend. Come and celebrate the arts and our community.

Tracy Aisenstat, ArtiCulture committee chair
