Plenty of ways for seniors to be heard

So seniors need more and better representation, eh? A recent headline in the St. Albert Gazette says seniors deserve a strong voice. If seniors, or any other group, want a strong voice, well all ya gotta do is get off your duff and do something.

Contact a council member, the mayor, your MLA, MP.

Vote – but be informed before you vote.

Encourage others to vote, provide transportation.

Get involved in local politics, learn, discuss, advocate.

Do you take part in surveys? When did you last talk to a councillor?

Support those you think should be elected by donating money and/or time going door to door. Put a sign on your lawn, show some real enthusiasm at next election time – municipal, provincial, federal.

Don’t pass the buck by getting a “spokesperson” to do your talking.

Seniors do not need someone else speaking for them. Do your own thinking, make up your own mind, be prepared to defend your position(s), keep an open mind.
