It was with great interest that I read Lauren Den Hartog’s article in the midweek edition of the Gazette that covered the issue of a shortage of classrooms in St. Albert and how the Protestant and Catholic school boards are thinking about addressing the issue.
The article was well researched. I was pleased to see that our school, King of Kings Lutheran Christian, was mentioned. At the beginning of this school year we moved our school from northeast Edmonton to St. Albert precisely because we realized that the Erin Ridge area needed a school. While it is true that we are not a public school, we are a level-two funded school and we have a 15-year history of solid Christian education behind us.
Because we enjoy partial recurrent funding from the provincial government, we are also fully accountable for the delivery of our educational program. At this point we are at 20 per cent capacity in our classrooms and are happy to consider applications for enrolment. Parents who are considering a Christian-based education might like to visit our facilities and see what we have to offer.
