For residents, especially new ones, and visitors to St. Albert, locating a building, store, restaurant or commercial property is like finding a needle in a haystack – frustratingly difficult because of lack of visible signage – specifically building numbers.

Telephone books and advertising usually list address numbers. But do all the buildings in St. Albert (or even half of them) have numbers? No! Are there block numbers on the intersection signs in St. Albert? No! To find an unknown location – especially on St. Albert Trail – one must drive slowly up and down the streets, peering through trees and around advertising signs trying to find numbers which usually aren’t there.

It is frustrating, time consuming and dangerous – especially if the driver does not have a passenger to help look. If large prominently displayed numbers were present on all commercial facilities, at least drivers would know on which side of the street to look and whether the number/building they want is in front or behind them.
