Photo radar enforcement unfairly applied

Kudos to retired police officer Gerry Vercammen for publicly stating the obvious. Unfair enforcement of photo radar may tend to turn the community against law enforcement. I would add, may tend to turn the community against St.

Kudos to retired police officer Gerry Vercammen for publicly stating the obvious. Unfair enforcement of photo radar may tend to turn the community against law enforcement. I would add, may tend to turn the community against St. Albert Mayor Nolan Crouse whose nonchalance about speeding in residential neighbourhoods was appalling when I appeared before city council.

In August 2014 my wife and I moved from Woodlands, where we had lived for 30 years, onto Eldorado Drive. Talk about a misnomer! It should be renamed Eldorado Speedway.

The posted speed limit is 50 kp/h, but it was not enforced – despite several dozen homes on the speedway and a bus stop for elementary school children.

One night I stood outside with my camera. I flashed eight of nine vehicles, and everyone immediately hit their brakes. In the interests of public safety, the city should relocate the photo radar from Forest Drive onto Eldorado Speedway.
