PC government trampling over landowner rights

I am appalled to hear that our government has managed to pass three pieces of legislation, Bills 19, 36 and 50 in order to ensure they are able to walk all over landowners in Alberta, take away our rights and endorse the Heartland Transmission Project, and all other Bill 50 Transmission Lines.

Does the PC government think everyone in Alberta is asleep? Did they think that a lack of a needs assessment would quiet the weary and tame the masses? When I hear that a premier is willing to “personally guarantee” that Albertans’ power bills will not increase by three or four times, then it begs the question: What will you do in your retirement Mr. Stelmach? Who do you think will pay? Give us an answer! Let me guess: big business, all big business, Albertans, all Albertans. Which big business likes the Bill 50 Transmission lines? I have been looking for a lawyer who interprets the legislation the way the PC government does, and they cannot be found. Not one! Come forward, if you are out there, and tell me that this is a transmission project that is in the public’s best interest, or that it does not take away my rights as a landowner or that it will not negatively affect big business and jobs in Alberta.

I am so enraged by the mere thought that the PC government would take away our rights as landowners, I will not settle for anything less than an amendment to all three pieces of legislation. Shame on you, you are taking a page out of communist Russia. I still live in Alberta and you will not get my vote next time — that is, provided we can still vote. Perhaps you plan to make legislation that will take that away as well! I just dare you, go ahead and light that fire!
