Alberta Health Services (AHS) is committed to creating the best EMS service in the country. Since EMS became part of the health care system five years ago patients have seen improvements in quality of care, access to treatment and technology. In fact, AHS data – which is reported publicly on the AHS website – shows the average response time for life-threatening calls in St. Albert remains consistent at an average of six to seven minutes.

EMS units from other areas respond to calls in St. Albert, and St. Albert responds to calls outside their community. If an Edmonton unit or another AHS ambulance is the closest to an incoming call, they respond. This is a direct benefit to the patient that is made possible through a collaborative dispatch system.

AHS is proud of the timely, high-quality emergency medical services provided by dispatchers and paramedics. When Albertans call 911, an EMS crew will be dispatched as quickly as possible.
