There have been several letters appearing in the Gazette lately that criticize MP Michael Cooper for having a partisan, close minded and unfair attitude towards the Liberal government, and Justin Trudeau.
If these people had taken a course in civics in high school they would have learned that the job of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition is to oppose government policy at every turn. So he is simply doing his job as St. Albert's MP. He also introduced a new law to make our citizens and law enforcement officers safer. And of course the Liberal government strongly supported his worthwhile efforts, right?
These attacks have a bizarre, off-the-wall character. When Justin Trudeau was in opposition, were journalists and letter writers calling for him to be more open-minded about Stephen Harper's policies? Of course not. The media is overwhelmingly liberal and socialist and so is much of Canada, having been indoctrinated and dumbed down in our public monopoly schools for at least 12 years of their lives. Liberals can almost get away with murder but Conservatives must tread on eggs to be polite and apologetic.
We may not have to worry about Mr. Cooper's statements anyway since Justin Trudeau is doing such a fine job of shooting himself in both feet by running up the debt to new stratospheric heights, kissing up to the corrupt UN with our money, taxing our energy when the economy is weak and dreaming about getting rid of a major engine of the economy, the oilsands. He obviously doesn't have his father's brains, but he looks to be every bit as dangerous as Pierre was. So, let's have a fair and open fact-based discussion about it.
